A Message from the Founder

SMA Finance was founded with a simple objective: to provide borrowers with access to well-structured, intelligently sourced commercial finance in an increasingly complex lending environment.

After more than 24 years working in commercial and corporate banking, including senior leadership roles responsible for structuring and approving lending facilities, I have seen first-hand how significantly the lending landscape has evolved. Increased regulation, formalised credit frameworks and institutional risk controls have made lending more structured, and at the same time, far more options and solutions are now available for borrowers. This makes it more challenging for borrowers to navigate.

SMA Finance was created to bridge that gap.

However, what sets SMA Finance apart is not only banking expertise, but the combination of complementary experience and access. Alongside my background in banking, my business partner brings over 25 years of experience in banking operations and global management consultancy, focused on large-scale transformation, strategy and execution. This adds a broader commercial and operational dimension to how we assess, support, and execute deals for our clients.

In addition, SMA Finance maintains established relationships with over 200 lenders through our network, giving clients access to a wide range of funding sources including high street banks, challenger banks, specialist lenders and private credit providers.

Our role is not simply to introduce finance. It is to structure transactions properly, ensure they are clearly articulated, and position them in a way that reflects how lenders actually make decisions.

We primarily work with property investors, developers and established businesses who value clarity, structure and efficient execution, alongside access to the right funding partners.

Our ambition is to build a boutique advisory known for its professionalism, integrity and judgement, where clients return not just for funding solutions, but for trusted advice.
